GENESIS

2010:  While working on the Faith Formation Books for the school children, the authors both Fr Charles Kandula and Mr. Michael Peria had been discussing on how to better the Liturgical singing in a meaningful way especially singing hymns (not songs) connected to the Rubrics of the mass, Readings of the day, Solemnities and Holydays of the year and sing the parts of the mass (High Mass) as per the Roman Missal especially the lyrics.

Added to these train a few choir members from different parishes and in turn, they go back and train their choir; in voice development, teaching new liturgical hymns and parts of the Mass, and making aware of the ‘Teachings of the Church on Sacred Music and it’s Ministry’.

June 2014:  Both Fr. Charles Kandula and Mr. Michael Peria conveyed the mentioned objectives to the Archbishop of Hyderabad, Most Rev Thumma Bala and he appreciated and approved the initiative.  He proposed that this should be one of the activities of the Pastoral Center and this choir should make a depositary of meaningful hymns for the whole Liturgical Year and three or four ‘Parts of the Mass’ (High mass) in English, Telugu, and Tamil.  He also said that this Choir, which is known as the HAC that is the Hyderabad Archdiocesan Choir will sing for all Diocesan Liturgical Events.

9th February 2015:  Abp Thumma Bala sent letters to all Parishes introducing HAC and requested a few choir members (the choir leaders, singers, and Instrumentalists) to join HAC, learn what is planned, and improve their Liturgical Singing.
